NJ Man Who Climbed In Window, Sexually Assaulted Child Pleads Guilty
CLIFTON, NJ — The man accused of climbing through a Passaic County girl's bedroom and raping her last spring admitted to entering the home without consent and strangling the victim before forcing her into sexual intercourse.
Andres Vasquez, 25, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child on June 2, said Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.
Clifton Police and the prosecutor's office arrested Vasquez, of Belleville, in June 2022 after speaking with the victim and witnesses, said Valdes.
An investigation revealed that Vasquez climbed through the window and confined the child in the room before strangling and sexually assaulting her, according to the prosecutor's office. Original article — Man Climbed Through Window, Sexually Assaulted Child In Passaic Co.: Prosecutor
Vasquez admitted that he did not know the victim and did not have permission to enter the home, the prosecutor's office said. He admitted to climbing through her bedroom, strangling her, and forcing her into sexual intercourse without her consent.
With Vasquez's guilty pleas, Valdes said, "the State has agreed to recommend a ten-year sentence with an 85 percent period of parole ineligibility consecutive to a flat five-year term, for an aggregate term of 15 years in New Jersey State Prison."
The prosecutor's office said that when Vasquez is released, he will be subject to parole supervision for life and Megan's Law registration. He will be required to submit to an evaluation at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel.
